The Challenge:
Design a football operations building
that is impressive inside and out, and
reflective of the high-tech and engineering
reputation of the school.
The Solution:
Use an aluminum composite panel system for the
building’s wall cladding. In addition to being
installed on the exterior, the panels were used
inside the 40 foot high lobby and trophy room
where their modular size complemented the wood
veneer panels.

Approximately 44,000 sq. ft. of 4mm Alcoa Reynobond
material in Bone White, Custom Red and Custom Gray
PVDF colors was used in the project to clad fascia,
spandrels, canopy soffits, sun shade awnings, beams,
columns, and curtainwall infills. |
|
| |
SPS integrated the
curtainwalls, storefronts, and window walls with the
metal panels using Tubelite aluminum wall systems
with Viracon fabricated glass products.
|
“Composite
aluminum panels were ch osen over other materials
because of their durability, light weight, ease
and speed of installation, and precision.
A rout-and-return, dry-seal system was
used to accentuate the joints, which align with
the brick, precast concrete panels, and the curtainwall
systems found on the exterior for an extremely
refined appearance.”

“The precise joint lines, crisp edges, and factory
finish
of
metal panels gives the building a ‘high-tech’
machined look that is appropriate for an energetic
forward-looking football program at a school which
is known for its engineering and science programs.
The building reflects the strong commitment of its
alumni to the football program’s history and points
toward an unprecedented future."
