Factory-insulated metal wall panels can be the logical solution for
over-cladding an aging out-of-date appearance and/or a failed
exterior finish system. They usually add insignificant additional
dead load to the existing structure while increasing thermal
resistance with an insulated panel core. The added insulation is on
the outside where its performance is more efficient, and a twenty
year finish and weather-tightness warranty is available.
These metal
wall panels have no exposed caulk in the panel joints making it a
“dry-seal” system. This exterior metal surface will remain cleaner
and newer looking than one with caulked joints. Life cycle costs are
lower due to greatly reduced cleaning costs.
Finally,
factory-insulated metal panels are a pressure-equalized rain screen
cladding system that allows the backside of the panels to be
ventilated. The equal pressure inside and outside of the panels
prevents moisture from being pulled into the wall cavity which
occurs when a completely sealed exterior cladding system has a caulk
failure. The ventilated wall system also helps prevent mold inside
the cavity which can contribute to the “sick building” syndrome. |
